The thing is... the default settings should be sane enough to not have
to fiddle with update-alternatives at all. I agree that it is a bit of
undiscoverable if one does not either by chance stumble upon it, but
that is not a good reason for having it part of a default install. The
default installation should come with general purpose applications that
a large portion of the users will (want to) use. Since the default
alternatives ought to be sane enough to not have users fiddle with them,
there woud be no sufficient justification for KAlternatives being part
of the default installation. In a way the sane-default-alternatives
mantra and kalternatives are mutually exclusive :)

Thank you for the suggestion, but I will have to turn this one down. If
you feel the need to, please raise a discussion about this on the
kubuntu-devel mailing list, if consensus towards inclusion should be
reached there, then so be it :)
