It works that way with Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Alpha 2 installed in a
flash drive on my Dell Vostro A860.  It shows no battery until I unplug
and plug in the power charger. With 9.10 it works okay, that is, there
is no problem on the same A860.
