I can confirm that i also have this problem under karmic. kubuntu-
desktop install under ubuntu seems to cause more problems than good.

The suggestion in log #19 seems to have fixed it for now. I'm not 100%
happy with the situation.

I'm considering a full fresh reinstall of ubuntu but if there's a simple
answer, I'd be willing to try it.
