The old Kaddressbook has been unmaintained for ages in the sense of no
new features or bugfixes. As it does not interoperate with other
applications (like a web browser would, displaying pages from a server),
there is little bitrot, it just keeps working as it always has. There is
nothing to support.

That's a great argument! Everybody else ships a broken package, so we can too!
Seriously, you can see this as an opportunity to do _better_ than all other distros.

Really, you expect end users to make PPAs just to continue using the
same functions that they have always been using?
