It's not like we can really support *unmaintained* software. :/
All other distros will be in the same boat, so it won't really affect Kubuntu more than it will affect KDE as a whole.

Anybody's more than welcome to make a PPA for this, we just cannot
provide support for it since there is no guarantee that KDE will provide
security fixes for the software for two years.
