exactly the contrary:

I had the old vcf addressbook defined in the KDE resources, i.e. in
Akonadi. For some time, it worked fine with both KMail and KAdressBook.
After some update, KAdressBook (which should "read them through
Akonadi") failed while KMail (being "not Akonadi enabled") remained
operational.

Er---how do you know? Up to now, I had no chance to fix the NFS server's
date. In contrast, the solution was to set "the old KDE Resources
mechanism" in KAddressBook (remember: which should "read them through
Akonadi").
