Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace
When performing a Kubuntu Maverick OEM installation, the installer is
apparently installing netbook instead of desktop, regardless of whether
a system meets the netbook criteria or not.
My system is a 64 bit VBox VM, and testing has been with 64bit Kubuntu
via CD and DVD ISOs for Alpha 3.
After discussing this with Riddell on #ubuntu testing, it appears that
in order for netbook to be installed, the system must meet three (at
least) criteria:
a: laptop-detect must determine that we're on a laptop
b: screen resolution must be less than 700 px tall according to xdpyinfo
c: no CDROM drive must be present according to lshal
On my system, the following is true:
A: laptop-detect returns a 0, and laptop-detect -v says it's a laptop due to ACPI batteries found.
B: xdpyinfo says screen height is 600px (VM is running at 800x600x32bit)
C: lshal DOES indicate the presence of a CDROM.
Now, on NON-OEM installs, the -desktop is installed, Riddell thinks this
is due to the presence of CDROM. However, on OEM installs, -netbook is
installed regardless of the presence of CDROM.
