Public bug reported:

Why it is such a chore to simply setup an e-mail account?

Try walking a non-technical person into setting up email account.
Best, a SECOND email account, if 1 is already existing.
In kmail.

I would expect to enter:
  foo at gmail.com
  John Foo
  mypassword
[x] download and store locally always (fast and works offline!)

instead one have to take following steps:
1. Go to setup accounts, reciving, click NEW, select Disconnected IMAP (wtf woot?)
2. Write the host name
3. Write user name
4. Check to save password
5. switch to Security tab try TLS, SSL, OMIGOD, fooshmoo, etc which ever works
6. click button to detect something more about security (even MORE security! wow how awesome is that, I feel so secure and leet now.)
7. enable interval checking
8. click ok, go back to account
9. switch to sending, click NEW
10. select SMTP
11. Try all the foo-shmos for security
12. Switch to other tab...
13. Click button to get even more security (woo so many buttons for security I feel so smart now. I want MOAR buttons!)
14. Back to tab
15. Host name! What ever that is. Fill it in.
16. Now go to... IDENTITIES! lol.
17. Make new identity...
18. Enter all this emails ONCE MORE. and names ONCE MORE
19. Go to... SPECIAL TRANSPORT (huh???) select the speciallll transport that matches the NEW smpt! (otherwise it will send all using the first, old account!)

Oh my god.

All this settings are redundand or can be easly guested / auto detected.
