[Bug 441677] [NEW] kdm isn't running after booting Recovery Mode > Resume

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: upstart

Instead of "normal" booting I choose Recovery Mode which shows the
Recovery Menu. In this menu the first option is "resume Resume
normal boot". If I chose this option the boot process seems to go on
normal, but KDM isn't shown or started. Instead I can switch between the
consoles 1-6 but can't switch to graphical mode on Alt+F7.

If I log in I can get this information:

   $ sudo start kdm
   kdm start/running, process 2192

   $ sudo ps -e | grep kdm
   => no result, kdm is not running

   $ sudo restart kdm
   restart: unknown instance:

So kdm seems not to be running at all. Starting KDE by "startx" works so there is no problem with X (besides some xkbcomp-errors that are ignored).
So I guess it's a problem with or caused by upstart.

I don't know if it is related but Postfix configuration is reloaded
quite often: "* Reloading postfix configuration".

** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
