I have a Compaq Presario A975EM with a "Full size desktop keyboard (with separate numeric keypad layout)".
I changed the keyboard layout from "Generic 101-key PC" to "Laptop/notebook (eg. Presario) Internet Keyboard".

I'm still getting the same problem but at least now I'm no longer
getting the "already assigned" message.
