I can confirm this bug, including roughly the same percentage.
(top indicates 20% process use, on an Intel X60 with Core 2 Duo)

The process goes to 0% CPU when "Stop playing song".

Sometimes, it uses a very reasonable 1..2% CPU.

The excessive CPU use has also been seen when a song is paused.

I can not reproduce the problem at the same severity when the playlist contains only a few songs.
