Public bug reported:

Initial conf:
 Kubuntu 9.10 (AMD64) - default install.

Steps to reproduce:
 1. Make sure clean install of Kubuntu works properly.
 2. Launch System Settings.
 3. Go to Appearance
 4. Change Widgets Style from "oxygen" to something else. For exmple, QtCurve.
 5. Apply settings. Make sure apps are using new widgets and all works fine at this point using new widgets style.
 6. Reboot the system (warning: be prepared that after doing so desktop would fail to load)
 7. Try to login to your user session
 8. Look what happens.

Result:
When you trying to log in to system at step 8 desktop environment would fail to load (plasma desktop stuff fails to start).
So you would generally lack your desktop environment and would get stuck at this point with unusable system

Hint:
To recover system from this condition you can hit Alt+F2, then KDE's launcher would appear.
Use it to launch System Settings and revert widgets back to "oxygen". Then desktop would load properly upon next reboot.

Note:
I tried at least 3 installs and got same results when changing widgets so I was able to figure out how to reproduce, etc.

** Affects: kde4libs (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
