Hi,
does anyone know if this issue has been resolved or if there is a workaround for this problem? 

Tried setting up the http_proxy environment variable, editing the
kpackagekit conf file etc. but still no joy ...

Other than this problem it seems quite usable (windows user trying to
move to linux)!
