Same problem for me: kmixctrl just crash.

mfaure at cassis4:~$ kmixctrl
kmixctrl(4974) Mixer::openIfValid: Mixer::open() detected master:  "PCM:0"
kmixctrl(4974) Mixer::getGlobalMasterMD: Mixer::masterCardDevice() returns 0 (no globalMaster)
kmixctrl(4974) Mixer::setGlobalMaster: Mixer::setGlobalMaster() card= "ALSA::HDA_Intel:1"  control= "PCM:0"

Launching kmix gives nothing (just give back the prompt)

Could I provide any further information to help solve this problem ?
