I get the same "Invalid method signature supplied" error.

When I click on the "test login" button in the last.fm service
preferences, the button greys out and the text changes to "testing". It
hangs like this until I click OK or Cancel.

I can also confirm that the listening data definitely does not get
uploaded and made available via my last.fm web page.
