There is a work around that I have figured out, you may do either one of
two things. If you have the KDE Wallet Subsystem turned on, it will save
your settings, or if you set the values manually through the
configuration file located
/{home}/.kde/share/apps/networkmanagement/connections/somecrazystringconfigname

locate the following section
[802-11-wireless-security]
authalg=open
group=
keymgmt=None
leapusername=
pairwise=
proto=
securityType=WEP40
weptxkeyindex=0

#these will be missing, add the following keys and enter what you need.
since I was using a hex key for the WEP I added the following password
(located where the # symbols are)

password=
leappassword=
psk=
wepkey0=#########
wepkey1=
wepkey2=
wepkey3=
weppassphrase=

I hope it helps!
