I can confirm this bug. This actually happened to me without having an
update, I was using it normally and then it just crashed. on boot the
metadata was messed up, I just deleted the database information by
deleting the ~/.kde/share/amarok file and rescanned. This has only
happened once so I tough it was a random error.
