Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve
Ubuntu.
As a T60 user working on a hotkey-handling spec for Ubuntu this cycle,
I've followed the status of ThinkPad hotkeys very closely. I can assure
you that the hotkey event is being generated correctly in jaunty:
$ xev | sed -n 's/^.*state \([0-9].*\), keycode *\([0-9]\+\) *\(.*\), .*$/keycode \2 = \3, state = \1/p'
keycode 235 = (keysym 0x1008ff59, XF86Display), state = 0x10
keycode 235 = (keysym 0x1008ff59, XF86Display), state = 0x10
^C
$
If kubuntu is not handling the XF86Display key, that's a kubuntu-
specific issue; reassigning accordingly.
