I tried that and it didn't work for me. First I changed ECHO="echo" to
echo="echo" in /usr/bin/libtool. Then I tried adding both variables, or
replacing $echo with $ECHO and none of the three approaches worked (on a
sample hello world program). Am I doing something different? I am
running 8.10.
