Sadly, this is not the case with me. I have tried it leaving the mouse
over the plasmoid - even after clicking on numeric buttons to make sure
they work - and numeric keys on either the laptop keyboard or the USB
keyboard do nothing to the applet. They do, of course, still do 123456
etc. normally.

I leave the mouse pointer over a calculator key and it makes the key
"glow", to the mouse is definitely being picked up by the plasmoid.
