There seem to be a problem sometimes, if the content of the IMAP folder
was changed by another program; this be gmail or for regular email
simply using another kmail to connect from another computer.

KMail will then crash indefinitely until the account is deleted and
recreated (seems like it is out of sync and cannot get "back in sync").
Backtrace is attached.
