[Bug 316740] [NEW] Unplugging the power adaptor makes the system unresponsive for ~10 sec

Public bug reported:

I'm using Jaunty with KDE 4.1.96 (this also happened in earlier 4.2
prereleases) and when I remove the power adaptor of my laptop, the whole
desktop becomes unresponsive for about 10 seconds or more. Clicking,
dragging etc just doesn't work, all the actions are carried out after
the system freeze in the correct order though (all in an instant).
