I am using vino 2.24.1-0ubuntu1 as the server on ubuntu 8.10. This is
included with ubuntu and is accessible through System > Preferences >
libvncclient is not a valid package name, please provide the package name to see which version I am running.
libvncserver is not currently installed on the machine.
I thought it could not be due to the server since, when connecting with
krdc 3.5, I am able to get lower quality and in turn faster screen

To give Jonathan the benefit of the doubt, I tested to see if it was the
server was the issue I booted from the ubuntu 8.04.1 Live CD and started
the vino VNC server (2.22.2-0ubuntu1). To my surprise, I actually got
"low quality", not as in stripped colors but, more pixelated. Reaction
time was fast and I had no loss of colors.
Assigning bug to vino package to see what changes in quality options
were made between 2.22.2-0ubuntu1 and 2.24.1-0ubuntu1.
