Public bug reported:

when using the safely remove feature for usb storage devices in kubuntu
karmic, the check symbol is displayed, before kubuntu is actually done
flushing to the device. i expected it to wait until all the data is
flushed and the report that i's save to remove, but sometimes it takes
up to 5 seconds more (this can be seen by the access led on my external
hard drive or memory stick). 5 seconds is certainly enough to pull the
thing out while the pc is writing on it... not good at all. sur most usb
devices have led's, but not all do and it's easy not to notice when in a
hurry. anyways: to reproduce copy a large file onto the usb device so
that kubuntu will use the cache. when it's done try to safely remove it
immediately and the described problem should happen. probably a bigger
issue on slower devices. by the way: this also happens on jaunty.

** Affects: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
