[Bug 417651] [NEW] Battery monitor applet no longer controls brightness on Samsung NC10

Public bug reported:

The battery monitor applet's "brightness" controller successfully
changed the brightness for the Samsung NC10 in 9.04. In 9.10 this
functionality has been lost (reverting to the bad old days of 8.10). Can
we have the old applet back please?
