Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kate
If you position the text cursor with your mouse by clicking on a character/line the cursor moves there just fine.
I tend to select areas of text with Shift-key: So, I select the start position of my selection with mouse by clicking on it, then I press and hold shift and choose where my selection should end.
The bug now is that if I recently typed in some text, delete this text by selecting it with my mouse (click and hold mouse button and "drag" the selection) and then remove the lines using backspace; then click on a different part of text to move the cursor there and then press and hold shift to select an area, the selection begins at the end of the text I recently deleted rather than starting where I placed the cursor with my mouse before.
Kind of annoying when writing and editing scripts.
I had some trouble finding the "right" way to trigger that bug, so might not occur on the first try or might occur on different ways. I was editing a PHP file.
Kubuntu 9.04 with KDE 4.3 (yes, it is not officially supported but this
bug was in the original Jaunty Jackalope KDE 4.2.x as well)
** Affects: kdesdk (Ubuntu)
