I can also confirm an empty screen when starting konsole, but my konsole
does not crash when closing the window.

My .xsession-errors shows the following when attempting to start
konsole:

konsole(18828) Konsole::Pty::flowControlEnabled: Unable to get flow control status, terminal not connected. 
konsole(18828): Attempt to use QAction "change-profile" with KXMLGUIFactory! 
konsole(18828) Konsole::Pty::start: Unable to set terminal attributes.
kwin: X Error (error: <unknown>[DAMAGE+0], request: XDamageDestroy[DAMAGE+2], resource: 0x1403973)

I've upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04 via adept. The issue occurs both for a
existing users home and a brand new created home directory, too.
