I have been told that Calendar needs fixing. Version: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu1~intrepid1 is what I have and I have also been told that no such CPU spike occurs in 4.3 (from KDE trunk). BTW, that'd mean new package altogether ;)
Also, for same package on Fedora 10(kdeplasma-addons-4.2.2-2.fc10.x86_64), working fine without CPU spikes just FYI
