** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: kwin

  Ubuntu 9.04 (alpha)

I've been seeing this effect (please refer to screenshot) after
upgrading to KDE 4.2, and I've heard that it may be due to some bugs in
the xserver-xorg-video-radeon driver. This does not occur in
Enlightenment using Bling or Ecomorph. I have not tried
Gnome/Compiz/Metacity, but guess that since Ecomorph works fine Compiz
  should too.

I'm using the AMD/ATI RS690M (Radeon X1250) video chipset and the latest
radeon update (1:6.11.0-1ubuntu1) hasn't fixed the issue... so here's
  the bug report.
