I have updated from Hardy with KDE 4.1 packages from launchpad.net to
Intrepid (20090917).

knotes still uses the old .kde4 directory:

$ find .kde4 -atime -1
.kde4                 
.kde4/share           
.kde4/share/apps      
.kde4/share/apps/knotes
.kde4/share/apps/knotes/notes
.kde4/share/apps/knotes/notes/libkcal-188432127.787
.kde4/share/apps/knotes/notes/libkcal-74300021.371
...

So I don't see my notes which I copied to .kde/... under Intrepid
