Linux/Linux MCE (LMCE), not picking up network "home network" on a
netgear router to which linux box conected to by cable, tried to use
Samba but zconfig network browser not picking up machines on network,
not sure if I have or how to disable DHCP on the linux side. Trying to
install a network management package is a challenge. apt-get install
SWAT installs but bombs out on completing the install. Log to follow
with next post of problem. Package manager GUI of apt crashes
frequently.
Computer: basic 2.4Ghz with 256 Mb RAM
Running LMCE on kubuntu 7.04
I expected a complete install if SWAT which would allow me to direct the
LMCE box to the netgear home network and be able to see the other
computers (3 windows machines 1# Vista and 2*XP)
apt gui crashes, apt-get install command line not completing
installation (broken package or something like that).
Regards,
Abongile
