Thanks for reporting this bug. To find the source of the problem we need to clarify a few things.
Firstly, does the bug still occur?
What version of kwrite do you use? You can find out by typing kwrite --version in a terminal
You say the that firefox starts freezing when kwrite freezes. Does firefox only freeze when kwrite freezes or does it happen at other times as well?
Have you noticed any other applications affected apart from firefox and kwrite?
