Yes, it is still present.  I started with a fresh install (no kde
folder) of Kubuntu 8.10.  I have one AIM and one Yahoo account.  I
thought by reducing my accounts from four to two, it might help matters.
It hasn't.

When I click on a contact to initiate a conversation, the whole app
freezes for 10-20 seconds, then the chat window pops up and everything
is fine.

If another contact sends me a new message (or if I click to open a
conversation with another contact) the chat window freezes again for
10-20 seconds, usually with half of what I was typing being sent to the
new tab when it finally opens. ;)
