[Bug 278657] [NEW] knetwork manager does not detect a wired connection

Public bug reported:

It sees and connects to my wireless router fine, but when I have it
connected via a wired connection, it does not see it, nor connect using
it.  This is on Kubuntu 8.10 beta, fully updated as of the 5th of
October, 2008.
