Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kdebase
After upgrading to Intrepid (while in Gnome), I started a KDE session.
The Upgrade Manager said "435 Upgrades Available", so I clicked it. The
upgrade got hung up a couple of times, one of them wanting a root user
password for MySQL. then crashed. Now about half of the applications in
KDE say "Malformed".
Note on the upgrade: While running the automatic upgrade, there was an
electrical short in a power strip upstairs that tripped all of the
circuit breakers for outlets in my house. I had to finish the upgrade
through Synaptic, since the Upgrade Manager would not finish. It said
something about a partial upgrade, but would not run. Now the warning
still comes up on the Upgrade Manager with regular upgrades and I just
cancel the warning and the upgrades download and install just fine. I
had to reinstall my NVidia display driver (173.14.12) but everything
else seems to work fine (in Gnome). XFCE won't load, just gives a blank
screen with a mouse cursor.
I hope the uploaded info helps, because I couldn't begin to guess which
package caused this.
