[Bug 297341] [NEW] kmail crashes with signal sigabrt at regular intervals with or without use

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kmail

- kmail crashes at regular intervals regardless of whether it is being used or left active in the system tray
- this is a clean install of kubuntu 8.10
- all the latest updates are installed
- standard configuration, nothing special about the kmail setup.  it is checking 7 imap accounts
- i have disabled automatic check for email for all accounts
- i have disabled the check for new email on launch
- i have chmodded the .kde folder to 777 just in case it was permissioning issue (as part of debugging prior to posting a bug)
- i don't know where to go from here in terms of debugging as the crash log makes no sense to me.
- i have included a copy of kmail.crash file for reference.
- if this a duplicate of another bug, my appologies, i did not find anything similar to this when checking the bug tracker
