Thanks for reporting this issue and helping to make kubuntu better.

Yes, this is true and a known problem. However, kmail will not be
further developed since it will b superseeded in KDE4 by Kmail2. Kmail2
will use also Akonadi for the imap connection. This is all totally new
code, therefore this report would not apply to it.

Thanks again, and please do not hesitate to report issues in the future.
