Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 7.10, german version
Just installed KOOKA (the only tool I found for OCR documents).
After installation of KOOKA I installed in addition th OCRAD 0.16.

Running KOOKA, menu file > Import image I imported the jpg-Scan of a document.
"Menu Image > OCR image" opens the window "optical character recognition- kooka". There on tab "Spell-checking" "Enable spell-checking for validation of the OCR result" checked.
In section Spell-Check Options for
Dictionary: "Unknown" is displayed as often, as I open
Encoding: US-ASCII
Client: International Ispell

But I selected
1. Client: Aspell, otherwise 2. Dictionary cannot be changed to "German neu"
3. Encoding ISO 8859-1

There is no "save"-button for this settings. Running immediately OCR it
seems to ignore the settings (does really silly proposals on common
german words - but this could be another problem). However, repeating
the "Menu Image > OCR image" and proceeding to the spell-checking tab
shows that all previously made settings are disappeard an the default
values(?) are shown.

Repeating the action of setting the aspell etc., but without running ocr
but closing down KOOKA and reopening it doesn't change anything: the
settings are gone.

BTW: Menu "Help > Report Bug > Launch Bug Report Wizzard" displays err-msg:
"Could not launch the browser: Could not find service 'kfmclient' " .... no wonder since I run Ubuntu with the gnome desktop.

Gruß, Gerhard
