more information: i created a new user on my system to be sure that
there are no special settings for neither kde nor openoffice. After
login i didn't change any setting, but the bug was still there...

Then i installed a fresh instance of Kubuntu7.10 in a VirtualBox. (Again
i used a german system: i selected the appropriate option In the boot
menu of the CD). After installation finished -> reboot -> login -> bug
still there...

Can you reproduce this?
