[Bug 207473] Same problem here on 1720

The brightness control with the Fn Keys works very sensitiv, I'm not able to switch every step (using Ubuntu 8.04).
Whatever, with the brightness applet from the panel I'm able to switch to every step.

With Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha the brightness control with the Fn Keys had
worked fine.
