I am also getting the codec install loop while trying to watch 3gp movie
files.

Kubuntu 8.04
Kaffeine 0.8.6
libxine-ffmpeg 1.1.11.1 / libavcodecd1 3:0.cvs20070307-5


If it's any use, the console output is:
