Hi Felix

Please try your steps to reproduce, and try one last thing afterwards:
 1. Change brightness in kde-guidance-powermanager applet to 40%
 2. Everything will be fine
 3. Lock your screen > Main menu > Lock session
 4. Screen goes black
 5. Move your mouse and type in your password and the screen will go back to 100% brightness
 6. Press brightness down once; you should get a percentage reading in a small pop-up, what does this say? And does it go to a brightness level that match the reported?
