Harold,

Thanks for the tip on the ctrl+alt+bkspace - good to know!

Yes; I did have my iPod plugged in while installing the software, and
here is a layman's play-by-play of what happened:

Plugged in iPod.
used the installed "Media Player" (was playing mp3's from my iPod during incident.)

Then, basically as you list below:

"Add/Remove Software" -> found Amarok
> -> Installed Amarok -> Amarok started after d/load -> tried to click on 'welcome-type file -> (my iPod is still playing in the background) -> right-clicked on Amarok -> hit 'close' -> did not remove tile from tray -> slow mouse -> complete reset.

Does this help? If at all possible, you may contact me via phone @
917.573.9840 until 11pm EST...

As I mentioned, everything is OK now (laptop at home), but just hate
that I did something I shouldn't have!

One more question - anything on the LTop that I can remove to free up
RAM/CPU? Or a cleaning method that comes standard? I know there is a
file 'scan' but I'm not touching anything until I get some more info
from you.

Then you can go help the others that need it more than me.

Thanks again for all your help with this. My father is in IT and I hear horror stories all the time....
