I confirm the behaviour, same configuration (kernel, network-manager, network-manager-kde, iwl3945 module) :
- works fine when plugged to a wired network
- timeout for wifi : 
NetworkManager: <WARN> wait_for_connection_expired(): Connection (2) /org/freedesktop/NetworkManagerSettings/Connection/0 failed to activate (timeout): (0) Connection was not provided by any settings service

it happens since network-manager / network-manager-kdelast update (~
20/21 august 2008)
