Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase

system is using up to date hardy.
starting with a fresh home, not previous kde profile
user is the first one, he is in the plugdev group
configuring kde to display devices' icons on the desktop (all devices checked)
When I log in, there's NO device icon on the desktop.
If I plug a removable storage device (usb stick), suddenly (after the device is discovered by the kernel) all icons appears (floppy, hdd, etc and the usbstick)
It also asks me what to do with the new plugged device.
(When I select "open in new window" it says "a security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this messge to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")
(strange i was able to access the device before...)

Why devices' icons aren't shown't immediatly after the logon ?

If I logon with the usb stick already plugged, devices icons aren't
shown either. I have to unplug and plug it again to trigger their
display !

It's reproducible, can you confirm ?

** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
