[Bug 218085] [NEW] kdm fails when proprietary ati driver is enabled

Using Kubuntu 8.04 Beta. When using proprietary ati driver with mobility
radeon x300 it is not possible to log out or turn off computer. sudo
/etc/init.d/kdm stop from tty1 gives the error message kdm is not
responding, and everything seems to hang. ctrl+alt+backspace gives the
same result as log out, reboot, turn off, etc from the menu; a black
screen and system hangup. sudo reboot or sudo halt from terminal or
konsole works. I just made an dist-upgrade, so all packages are updated.
8.04 was originally installed from 8.04 beta cd.
