Sorry it took me a couple of days.
I've attached the syslog as described.  I killed network manager, unloaded the driver, reloaded the driver, and restarted network manager.  I hit the knetworkmanager tray icon and selected the LEAP-encoded network.  It prompted me for encryption information, and ONLY gave me the WEP options - WEP passphrase, Hex, or ascii.  At this point, I exited out & halted the log, as the AP is not WEP encoded.
