[Bug 210698] [NEW] konsole starts but does not do anything

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: konsole

I can start konsole from the Kmenu or from katapult and it's slow to
start, and then does not accept any input (no text, no fiddling with the
menus).

System: up-to-date Hardy, konsole 4:3.5.9.-0ubuntu6

Other possibly related symptoms: Sluggish X overall after the recent
upgrades

What has been tried: killall konsole, apt-get clean, apt-get --reinstall
install konsole   (no effect)
