not sure if it related, but i get the black screen while wine apps are
in the foreground (but with no error messages).

this happens when i try to run wine over ssh

sam at titania:~$ ssh -XC  oberon
sam at oberon:~$ winecfg

(titania is a runing powerpc ubuntu 7.04 with radeon driver, oberon is
running amd64 ubuntu with nouveau driver)

other programs work fine over ssh. wine works fine just on oberon (no
tunneling).

could this be a direct rendering issue? does wine always use direct
rendering?
