This bug is not fixed for me. I have tried to do: sudo apt-get remove --purge kdebase-data && sudo rm -rf /etc/xdg/menus/kde-* and later reinstall kdebase-data, but still kcontrol is empty. And I have tried moving around the file kde-essential.menu, but it still not working. -- kcontrol is empty https://launchpad.net/bugs/80444
